EZLynx data after an acquisition: reports, row limits and applicants
Abe Harbid, 26 October 2026
EZLynx offers an all-in-one management system, a comparative rater and agency websites, and its site carries the copyright of Applied Systems Inc. [1]. An agency on its management system exports through Reports 5.0 or the accounting reports, and the row limits on visual downloads decide how much of the book arrives in one file [2]. Expect to ask for several exports.
What is distinctive about EZLynx agencies
EZLynx’s own page lists the stages of agency it is built for: new agencies, newly independent agents, growing agencies, agencies expanding commercial lines and multi-location agencies [1]. It lists independent agents, agent networks, carriers and insurance cross-sellers as business models [1]. Its comparative rater is described as a real-time quoting tool for home and auto insurance [1], and another EZLynx page describes the rater as covering more personal lines products than other raters and connecting to a large number of carriers [4].
That points to what the data looks like. With a rater built around home and auto quoting, an agency’s files are likely to include people who were quoted before they were sold. The reports reflect the distinction. Reports 5.0 has an Applicant category and an Applicant Detail report [2]. In a file, the person may be called an applicant, and a mapping must decide when an applicant is a client.
What the agency can export
EZLynx’s support site is specific. In Reports 5.0, an entire report is downloaded from the three-dot menu or with Alt and D, as PDF or CSV [2]. An individual visual has a Download data option offering TXT, Excel, CSV, JSON, HTML, Markdown and PNG [2]. The row scope matters more than the format. The help article lists the current result table at about 500 rows, a custom scope of up to 5,000 rows without expanded download permission, and all results only with expanded download permission [2].
A seller who exports a policy list from a visual with the default scope may send you 500 rows from a book of thousands, and nothing in the file says so. Count the rows against the agency’s policy count before you accept it.
The same article says the data is cached and offers a "Clear cache and refresh" option, adding that this does not force the cloud to update, so data may still lag [2]. A report pulled today may not hold this morning’s changes. A separate EZLynx blog post on enhanced reporting says there are Standard, Master and Custom report types, that reports can be exported to Excel or CSV, and that most reports reflect activity through the prior day’s midnight, with Standard Commission reports as the exception to that rule [3].
What breaks when you map it to your standard
- Truncated files. A 500-row export maps cleanly and is wrong. The engine compares row counts against the count the agency states and flags a shortfall.
- Applicants and customers. The Applicant Detail report [2] describes people who may never have bound a policy. If the file has no policy number for a row, it is not a client for your book.
- Personal lines detail. Home and auto policies tend to come with drivers, vehicles and locations. Your standard may treat those as attributes of the policy or as separate records.
- Assigned producer filters. Commission Detail accepts multiple values for Assigned Producer while Applicant Detail does not [2], so producer coverage differs by report. A producer that appears in the commission file may not appear in the applicant file under the same spelling.
- Filter sets belong to one report. The article says filter sets cannot be applied to other reports [2]. Two exports from the same agency can be filtered differently without anyone noticing.
Commission statements next to the export
EZLynx’s accounting help describes commission statements as the way to track and pay producers’ commissions within EZLynx [5]. The workflow it lists is: greenlight the incoming carrier statement, generate a receipt from it, finalize it, set up a deposit, cut checks to producers, then pull the checks and the general ledger out of EZLynx and move them into QuickBooks [5]. Statements come in as carrier downloads or are entered manually [5].
The accounting reports in the help center include Trial Balance, GL Posting Detail, Cash Receipts, Deposit Summary, Check Register, Aged Receivables, Invoice Summary, Payable Work List and Production by Producer, each exportable to Excel [6]. An acquirer receives the money trail as checks and ledger entries in QuickBooks, which is a different structure from a statement-line file. To reconcile a carrier statement against the book you need the statement lines, the receipts and the policy list together.
What our engine builds for an EZLynx agency
The engine takes each export as its own layout: the policy download, the commission detail, the production by producer file. It stores a mapping for each, so the next EZLynx agency that sends the same report starts from it. It checks row counts against what the agency says it has, flags rows without policy numbers, finds duplicate clients and matches producers to your roster.
Carrier statements are matched against the mapped book line by line. A line the book does not contain, or a policy whose rate differs from the rate paid, goes on the variance list by carrier. The agency is added to the dashboard by producer. You get an import file in your layout and an error report; your team loads it. More on that side is on commission reconciliation.
Questions
How many rows can an EZLynx visual export?
The help article gives about 500 for the current result table and up to 5,000 on a custom scope without expanded download permission [2]. Ask for the permission or for the whole-report download.
Is EZLynx owned by Applied Systems?
The EZLynx page we read shows a copyright notice for Applied Systems Inc. [1]. It does not say more about ownership, so we say no more.
Why is the commission file different from the policy file?
They come from different reports with different filters [2]. The engine joins them on policy number and lists what does not join.
Can the engine use QuickBooks exports?
It can map a spreadsheet of checks and ledger entries as another layout. It will not know commission lines unless the statement lines are included.
For the other small-agency systems, see HawkSoft and QQCatalyst, or the overview. The diagnostic tests a sample export.
