Insurance: the acquisition-onboarding engine
Harborline Insurance Partners, a fictional PE-backed brokerage platform, and the three agencies it just bought, each exporting in a different layout.
The full walkthrough
About 3 minutes. Dashboard by agency and producer, the onboarding board, a new agency’s exports mapped and checked, a commission variance approved with its audit trail, and what an acquired agency’s own staff can see.
The 60-second version
The same run, cut to the main steps.

- 0:00 Harborline Insurance Partners: a fictional PE-backed commercial insurance platform that just bought three agencies.
- 0:05 Every acquired agency’s book has to come across from its own system. This is the engine that does it.
- 0:15 The platform’s view: commission revenue, retention and new business across every acquired agency.
- 0:21 By agency, from the agencies’ own exports. Nothing retyped.
- 0:26 And by producer, from day one. Policies with no producer show up here instead of hiding.
- 0:34 The onboarding board: days since close, checklist progress and open exceptions for each agency.
- 0:40 Tamarack is cleared and merged. Copper Basin is part way. Millrace closed nine days ago.
- 0:46 Millrace’s exports arrive as they are: clients, policies and producers from its own system, plus carrier statements.
- 0:54 The engine maps each layout to the platform’s standard schema: their column names, their date and rate formats.
- 1:01 Then it checks every row: missing fields, duplicate clients, policies with no producer, carrier codes the platform does not know.
- 1:09 And it reconciles each carrier’s commission statement against the agency’s own book.
- 1:21 Loaded. A re-run on a corrected export updates the same rows and keeps every decision already made.
- 1:29 Each agency gets its own page: checklist with owners, every open exception, statements reconciled.
- 1:36 A commission variance: the carrier paid a lower rate than the agency’s book says. The engine shows both.
- 1:45 Approved by the integration lead, with the note, in the audit trail.
- 1:52 Who decided what, and when. Every approval, resolution and checklist step.
- 2:01 Now Millrace’s own staff. Erin Doyle, account manager.
- 2:06 She sees Millrace and nothing else: not the other agencies, not the platform’s numbers. The database enforces it.
- 2:14 Her numbers are Millrace’s numbers only.
- 2:22 She fixes the record at the source and resolves it. Only the platform can approve a variance as is.
- 2:33 When an agency is cleared, the platform merges it. Tamarack’s staff now work in the merged book, and still never see an agency that is onboarding.
- 2:44 One engine, re-used for every acquisition. Built on the agencies’ own exports. All data here is fictional.

For owner-led companies: one portal on top of the system the company already runs, with staff, customer and vendor logins. Each login sees only what is its own. About 2.5 minutes each.
Lakeshore Industrial Supply
A fictional distributor. The staff dashboard, a customer reorder approved in one click, a file import from the company’s own system, the customer’s orders, invoices and documents, the automated assistant, and a vendor’s purchase orders, payment status and paperwork.
Prairie Line
A fictional trucking and logistics firm. Loads with status and tracking, customer balances, carrier paperwork with expiring insurance flagged, the customer’s view of their own shipments, and a carrier’s view of payment status.
Permian Ridge
A fictional oilfield services firm. Jobs with crew and dispatch, the customer’s view of their own jobs and invoices, and a subcontractor uploading compliance paperwork and checking payment status.
